Facing Divorce? Things to consider.
Divorce can be the most unsettling and emotionally trying period of anyone’s life. There are hundreds of decisions to be made all within a short period of time.
Letting go of the family home in a divorce situation may cause problems. For the sake of the children, the Custodial parent may want to stay in the home. It could be that either or both spouses cannot afford to purchase a similar replacement home.
There are a few questions you should ask:
1. Can either of you afford to keep the home after the divorce or should you sell it during the divorce?
2. Should you keep the home and buyout your soon to be ex-spouse or vise versa?
3. Should you stay in the home at least until the children are grown?
4. Will you qualify for a home if you have no credit history and/or employment history?
5. Can either spouse afford to qualify for the home after the divorce?
The answers to these questions can help you avoid and/or plan for problems associated with your real estate during the divorce.
